Bass Beer Activation

As part of a new marketing campaign to raise awareness of the Bass beer brand, we were contracted to redecorate London’s Gipsy Queen pub with items and imagery, designed and created by Okoru, to reflect the new brand identity.   Directors of the brand and corporate partners were invited from overseas to experience a traditional British pub with an emphasis on Bass.

This was a trial of the concept before a more major roll out of a campaign across the UK.

A 3D mural was drilled to the exterior wall, fashioned from Foamex for its waterproof yet lightweight properties.  

Bespoke triangle logo stainless steel bar blades, bell jars, beer mats, coasters and slip trays were created for the event, as well as vinyl window stickers decorating the mirror behind the bar.  

We even made a temporary hanging pub sign outside the pub, working with the Gipsy Queen’s existing graphics to include the Bass branding.  New artwork completed the pub’s aesthetic, displayed in triangular wooden frames.


We worked early to get the pub ready for its standard opening and the one-off trial event was conducted as if the pub was operating with usual operations.

A particular highlight of this project was creating a bespoke wireless phone charging table.  The table was fitted with a circular pad which was connected to a battery below. A Bass branded sticker was added to the tabletop which read ‘place phone here’, allowing visitors to sit back and enjoy a pint of Bass while effortlessly charging their phones.  We created this table by combining an off-the-shelf charging unit and an old pub table, with all the tech hidden inside and a power cable through the floor.

We really enjoyed being offered the opportunity to bring Bass to life throughout the pub and make the most of every unique detail and style feature. The pub was packed with corporate partners throughout the day, enjoying a cold Bass beer.
